All-On-4 / Implant-Supported Dentures

If you have a number of missing teeth in either your upper or lower arch, the effect on your day to day life can be considerable. You may be finding it tricky to bite food or eat normally, and you may even find that your speech is adversely affected. This is because the tongue pushes up against our teeth to help us form sounds. If those teeth are making, the sounds that will make will be different to before – something which can be extremely frustrating. Your missing teeth may have an effect on your confidence in your appearance, and you may find yourself shying away from sharing your smile, and even from doing anything that might draw attention to your mouth.

Fortunately, it is easier than ever to replace missing teeth, and modern prosthetics are more natural, comfortable and durable than ever before. All-on-4 implant-supported dentures are considered the most superior solution available, and we are pleased to be able to offer the benefits of All-on-4 to our patients.

What are All-on-4 / Implant-Supported Dentures

All-on-4 / implant-supported dentures are a modern, successful way of replacing multiple missing teeth with prosthetics in just one device. The solution combines the design of traditional dentures with dental implant technology to give patients the benefit of both.

Traditional dentures are typically made from porcelain. However, All-on-4 dentures are created from PrettauÒ zirconia, which is the strongest and most natural material currently available for use in modern dentistry. Each All-on-4 device is bespoke, created specifically for the gap in your smile and in the shape, size, and color that will match your existing teeth and ensure the entire solution is completely discreet. The prosthetic teeth are attached to a flesh-colored mold that sits over the top of your gum. This contains special connectors that are attached to the implant posts protruding from your gums, completing the solution.

The implant posts act as roots for the device, securing it permanently to your mouth. Each of the 4 implant posts from which All-on-4 takes their name is surgically inserted into the jaw bone via an incision in the gums. They are placed in at specific angles which means that it is possible to load them with your denture right away. As the jaw heals, the bone regenerates around the post, securing them permanently to the structure of your jaw. It is these implant posts that give dental implants and all implant-supported solutions the stability for which they are known.

In addition to All-on-4, there are regular implant-supported dentures. These are made from porcelain in the style of traditional dentures and are placed onto implant posts that have been pre-placed into the jaw. It may be necessary to wait for the implants to fully heal into the bone before they can be loaded with your prosthetic teeth.
